HBCU Arts Showcase at Ogden Museum of Southern Art

Arts students from Dillard University and Xavier University of New Orleans were honored to have the opportunity to showcase their work at Ogden Museum of Southern Art this summer. The exhibit provided the students with an entree into the real world of art and was a valuable networking opportunity. New Orleans Links chapter members, friends, family and university professors came out to celebrate the students at the close of the event on September 28, 2017.

The New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, through its Arts facet, works to foster and support arts education in our schools – whether that be in music, acting, or theater – from primary school through college. We seek to sow the seed of creativity in our community.

Throughout the nation today, Links chapters partner with museums, symphonies, arts councils, educational institutes and corporations in order to support art programs, especially where there is a focus on artists of color. Links are creating and supporting opportunities for educating minority youth in the arts and presenting and supporting performances by youth and accomplished professional artists in a diversity of disciplines.

The goal of The Arts facet is to increase and expand art activity. We recognize how art is an important foundation to good mental health and can foster healthy connections by Building A Healthy Legacy: Our Prescription for the Future.
